The act or process of returning something to it's original condition...returning or bringing back something that existed before or that was stolen or taken.
Chronic stress takes a toll on your mind, body and spirit. Do you relate to the feeling in your own life, that something was taken from you? Perhaps your energy, your hopefulness or your sense of control over your life? Do you want to feel restored to a more fulfilling way of being and feeling? To feel like yourself again?
An ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.
Are you finding it difficult to bounce back from the stressors and demands of life?
Are you exhausted, spinning in circles or feeling stuck? Feeling emotionally and physically depleted?
Would you like to regain the ability to adapt and bounce back from stress? Or to overcome the effects of trauma and thrive?
Power given to someone to do something;
the process of becoming stronger and more confident especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights.
A basic sense of control over our life choices is central to well being. Developing an empowered sense of self involves taking personal responsibility for one's experiences. We always have choices. We all have innate rights. Find yours and reclaim power over your life.
Trauma is often expressed through symptoms, often without clear memories of the traumatic origins. Trauma can result from big, life altering events or the accumulation of chronic stressors, big or small.
SYMPTOMS of TRAUMA include:
Depression, Irritability, Loss of Interest, Numbing, Decreased Concentration, Insomnia, Emotional Overwhelm, Reactivity, Hopelessness, Shame and Worthlessness, Loss of memories, Nightmares or Flashbacks, Hypervigilance or Mistrust, Generalized Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Chronic Pain or Headaches, Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders, Feeling unreal or out of body, Self-destructive Behaviors, Loss of a sense of "Who I am."
Depression is a feeling state that eventually passes over most people to some degree. Sometimes, however, this most heavy and challenging mood state becomes hard to shake. It can put a dark cloud over all your activities, take away your ability to experience pleasure, stop you from getting things done, hurt your relationships and threaten your sense of self and hope about the future.
It is possible to manage the dark feeling state of depression with interpersonal support and by building coping tools.
Anxiety. Excessive worry and chronic anxiety steal the pleasure out of our lives.
In addition to being emotionally draining, chronic anxiety is hard on our bodies and eventually takes a physical toll.
Learn skills and habits to reclaim the calmness of your mind, to feel safer in your body and experience the potential of joy and peace in your life.

For peace of mind, we are striving for a state of consistency between what we Think, Feel and Do: Thoughts, Feelings and Actions in Alignment. When this is not happening, we will be prone to feeling frustrated, unsettled, guilty and out of integrity.
To cope and survive from stress or trauma, our minds have developed an amazing capacity to compartmentalize. For example, we have one aspect of our self that holds it together at work, another aspect that we present at our kids' school and yet another that socializes with friends; there may yet be another part of ourselves that we don't show anyone at all! Sometimes we say or do things that don't match our intentions or even our values. We might over drink or over eat, lose our temper at someone we love...Despite our best efforts these frustrating behaviors can escalate or become hard to manage.
This inconsistencies can lead to a deep and nagging sense of shame. It can be very confusing and can lead to a lowered self esteem.
It can help to understand that the cause of this dynamic is usually the result of trauma (whether you can identify it or not, whether the trauma was big or small). Small things can really add up!
The brains coping defenses can backfire and then we unintentionally create chaos in our own lives. Luckily, there are things you can do to regain a sense of control over yourself and your life.
RARC therapists are trained to treat the effects of trauma. Please reach out if you need a helping hand.
